Let's chat?!

Hi folks. Don’t hate me for the form-lettery-ish nature of this. I wanted to get it out to you all before I changed my mind about doing it and wanted to cast a wide enough net to discover whether it’d be worthwhile without putting out a full scale Twitter APB. If I’ve sent you this link via DM, it’s because I don’t (and couldn’t find) your email address on your site.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been plotting an idea where I’d use some sort of online tool to create a bloggingheads.tv-like conversation, but using people I knew or wanted to talk with, about various topics of interest. I mean, sort of like the bloggingheads format, except I imagine the first few would be with me doing them with another person…if it took off, we’d adapt it (because that’d be awesome) but…one thing at a time.

After discovering wetoku, I’ve decided to give this a go in earnest. Which means I need your help. If you have a camera + headset, I’d like you to participate in a chat with me at some point in the next few weeks. If you don’t have a camera + headset and still want to participate, let me know anyway, but don’t all of you do that…please? :)

Five years ago I bought the domain activedialogue.com, because I thought it was a good name and that I could do something with it. It expires in April and before I decide to renew it, I decided to try this idea using that domain. If it works, I’ll keep the domain and keep it going, if not..well..it’s worth a try.

The posts that are higher-ed relevant (e.g. featuring higher ed folks) will be cross-posted on my site edustir.com, as well, because that it would still reach the higher ed community. All of them would be on activedialogue.com regardless. The talks don’t always have to be serious and they won’t last long (15 minutes, 20 if it’s a particularly good one and we go over…) and the topics are something we can hash our prior. I know some of us are more camera shy than others, but…I sent this to the folks that I thought might be up for it.

I’d be at your behest in terms of scheduling, I’d like to ideally to post at least one each week, but as far as recording, if I have to frontload a bunch and just save them to release later because that’s what works best..we can do that and so forth. Timing is pretty open for me, these days, so I could pretty much accommodate most schedules.

So that’s the story. If you’re interested and/or have questions and want to discuss it more, please let me know. I think this would be a ton of fun, something innovative and different to offer up and if I’m sending this to you, it’s because I’m genuinely interested in your insights, lessons, stories and well, whatever we can manage to come up with.

Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you soon. (Either way, you can say hi!)
